Ms. Wood was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  She graduated cum laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.   She received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2010 from Texas Tech University School of Law.  She also graduated in 2010 from Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University.  Ms. Wood is currently licensed by the Texas Supreme Court.

Following her first year of law school, Ms. Wood spent her summers interning for the West Texas Capital Punishment Public Defender and the Harris County District Clerk.

During her second and third years of law school, Ms. Wood was elected Vice President of the Student Bar Association and the Vice Chair of Administration for the Board of Barristers.  In law school, Ms. Wood was also active in advocacy competitions, competing in Advanced Moot Court, Advanced Mock Trial, Advanced Negotiations, and Advanced Client Counseling.  She also served as a staff member and Articles Editor for Texas Tech Administrative: Law Journal. 

Ms. Wood is a trained mediator, having mediated cases involving child custody, divorce, and other areas.
